  • Page 22 2 Installing User Software on a Windows Computer The procedure below describes installing the printer drivers from the User Software CD or from the Installer WebTool. The procedures after that describe setting up the print connection. If you are printing using SMB (Server Message Block) you can connect to the Fiery and install the printer drivers in a single procedure.

    38 Installing User Software on a Windows Computer Setting up SMB printing on Windows NT 4.0 If you don’t have a Novell network, you can print via SMB printing (also known as Windows printing or WINS printing). Printing by this method allows you to install the PostScript or PCL printer driver and printer description files, and print from your computer to a particular print connection (Hold, Print, or Direct) on the Fiery.

    40 Installing User Software on a Windows Computer Installing Fiery software The User Software CD includes software installers for Fiery Link, ColorWise Pro Tools, Fiery Downloader, and the Fiery Scan plug-in. Fiery utility software is supported on Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0 and must be separately installed on each user’s computer.

    57 Using the software for the first time Configuring the connection for Fiery utilities and the Command WorkStation The first time you launch Fiery Downloader, Fiery Scan, or the Command WorkStation, you are prompted to configure the connection to the Fiery. The same TCP/IP configuration is used for Fiery Downloader, Fiery Scan, or Command Workstation, so any change in one configuration affects all connections.
