WARNING:Before operating this machine,
make sure the seat is engaged in the seat
stop, stand behind the machine and pull
back on seat until fully engaged into stop.
Flipthe seat up as shownin Fig. 5-3.
Loosenthetwo seat adjustment k nobs locatedunder
the seat. See Fig.5-3.
3. Slide the seat forwardor rearward, t hen tightenthe
knobs to lock the seat at thedesiredposition.Put the
seat downto the operatingposition.
Steering
Adjustment
If the tractorturnstighter in one directionthanthe other,
or if the ball joints are being replaceddue to damageor
wear,the steeringdrag linksmay needto be adjusted.
Adjustthe drag links so that equal lengthsare threaded
into the balljoint on the left and rightside:
1. Loosenthejam nut foundon the drag linkat the rear
of the ball joint. See Fig.5-4.
2. Removehex nuton thetop of balljoint. See Fig.5-4.
3. Threadthe balljoint towardthejam nut to shortenthe
drag link. Threadtheball joint awayfrom thejam nut
to lengthenthe drag link.
4. Replacehex nutand retightenthejam nut after proper
adjustmentis achieved.
NOTE:Threadingthe balljoints too far ontothe drag links
will causethe front tires to "toe-in"too far. Propertoe-in is
between 1/16"and 5/16".
Fronttiretoe-in canbe measuredas follows:
1. Placethe steeringwheelin positionfor straightahead
travel.

2. Infront of the axle, measurethe distancehorizontally
from the insideof the left rimto the insideof the right
rim. Notethe distance.

3. Behindthe axle, measurethe distancehorizontally
from the insideof the left rimto the insideof the right
rim. Notethe distance.
4. The measurement t aken in frontof the axle shouldbe
between 1/16"and 5/16"less thanthe measurement
taken behindthe axle.Adjust if necessary.
