Stopping the Engine
Ifyoustrikeaforeignobject,stopthe engine,disconnect the sparkplugwire(s)
andgroundagainst t he engine.Thoroughly inspectthe machine foranydamage.
Repair t he damage beforerestartingandoperating
1.
If the blades areengaged, p lace the PTO (Blade Engage) l everinthe
disengaged (OFF) position.
2.
Turnthe ignitionkeycounterclockwise to the STOP p osition.
3.
Remove t he keyfrom the ignitionswitchto prevent u nintended starting.
DrivingThe Tractor
Avoidsudden starts,excessive s peed andsuddenstops.
Donot leave the seatofthe tractorwithoutfirst placingthe PTO (BladeEngage)
leverinthe disengaged (OFF) position,depressing t he brakepedalandengaging
the parkingbrake.If leavingthe tractorunattended, alsoturn the ignitionkeyoff
andremove the key.
Always lookdownandbehindbeforeandwhilebackingupto avoida back-over
accident.
1.
Movethe throttle leverintothe FAST ( rabbit)position.
NOTE: Always operatethe tractorwith the throttle/choke controlleverinthe
FAST (rabbit)positionforthe mostefficientuseof the cuttingdeckor other
(separately a vailable) a ttachments.
2.
Release t he parkingbrakebydepressing t he parkingbrakepedal
3.
Slowlymovethespeed controlleverindesired "F"forwardor"R" reverse
position. T hefurther forwardor rearward that the leverismoved, t he faster
the tractorwill travel.
DoNOT attemptto change the directionof travelwhenthe tractorisin motion.
Always bringthe tractorto acomplete stop before movingthe speed control
leverfrom forwardto reverse o r viceversa. F ailure to do socouldresultinserious
damage to yourtractor'stransmission.
IIViPO RTA N T: First-ti m eoperators shoulduseslowerspeeds. B ecome
completely familiarwith the tractor'soperationandcontrolsbefore operatingthe
tractorat a higherspeed.
4.
Tostop,movethe speed control l everto the "N" neutralposition.
IMPORTANT:
Inasudden situation,fullydepress the brakepedalto bring
the tractorto astop andthenimmediately m ovethe speed controlleverto the "N"
neutralposition.
Setthe parkingbrakebyfullydepressing t he parkingbrakepedaland
keepingit depressed w hileplacingthe parkingbrakeleverinthe ON
position.Release t he parkingbrakepedal t o allowthe parkingbraketo
engage.
Before leavingthe operator's positionforanyreason, d isengage t he blades, p lace
the speed controlleverin neutral,engage the parkingbrake, s hutengineoffand
remove the key.
IM PORTANT: When stoppingthe tractorforanyreason whileon agrass
surface, a lways:
1.
Place the speed controlleverin N(neutral),
2.
Engage the parkingbrake,
3.
Shutengineoff andremove the key.
Doing sowill minimizethe possibility of havingyourlawn"browned"byhot
exhaust f rom yourtractor'srunningengine.
DrivingOn Slopes
Refer t o the SLOPE G AUGE in the ImportantSafeOperation Practices sectionof the
manual t o help determine slopes whereyou mayoperatethetractorsafely.
Donot mowon inclines with aslopeinexcess of 15degrees (ariseof
approximately 2-1/2feetevery10feet).Thetractorcouldoverturnandcause
serious injury.
Mow upanddownslopes, N EVER a cross.
Exercise e xtreme cautionwhenchangingdirectiononslopes.
Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks, o r otherhiddenobjects.Uneven terrain
couldoverturnthe machine. T allgrasscanhide obstacles.
Avoidturnswhendrivingonaslope.Iraturn mustbemade,turndown the
slope.Turningupaslopegreatlyincreases t hechance of a rollover.
Avoidstoppingwhendrivingupa slope.If it isnecessary t o stopwhile
drivingupa slope, s tart upsmoothlyandcarefully to reduce the possibility
of flippingthe tractoroverbackward.
Engagingthe Blades
Engaging t he PTO (BladeEngage) transfers powerto the cuttingdeckor other
(separately a vailable) a ttachments. T oengage the blades, p roceed asfollows:
1.
Movethe throttle/choke controlleverto the FAST (rabbit)position.
2.
Grasp the PTO (BladeEngage) leverandpivot it all the wayforwardinto the
engaged (ON)position.
3.
Keep the throttle leverinthe FAST ( rabbit)positionforthe mostefficientuse
of the cuttingdeckor other(separately a vailable) a ttachments.
IM PORTANT: Inthe Reverse C autionMode the enginewill automatically shut
off if the PTO isengaged with the speed control l everinpositionfor reverse t ravel
with the ignitionkeyin the NORMAL MOWING position.
Usingthe DeckLift Lever
Toraisethe cuttingdeck,movethe decklift leverto the left, thenplaceit inthe
notchbestsuitedforyourapplication. R eferto SettingTheCuttingHeightearlierin
thissection.
