FirstTime Use
1.
Remove o il fill dipstick(G). S eeFigure14.
2.
Withthe moweronlevelground,emptyentirecontents of oil bottle
provided intothe engine oil fill (H).
3.
Replace o il fill dipstickandtighten.
Subsequent Uses
Use4-stroke motoroil that meets or exceeds t he requirements f or APIservice
category SF, SG, S H,SJ or higher. A lways check the APIservice [abe[onthe oil
container t o besureit includes the lettersSF, SG, S H,SJ or higher.
Outdoor t emperatures d eterminethe properoil viscosity forthe engine.Use the
chartto select t he bestviscosity forthe outdoortemperature rangeexpected.

2.

3.
Insertandtightenthe o11 f ill dipstick.Remove i t to check the oil [eve[. S ee

If theoil [eve[isnearor belowthe lowerlimit markonthe dipstick,remove
the o11 f ill dipstick, a ndfill withthe recommended o 1[ t o the upperlimit
mark(J).Donot overfill.
5.
Reinstall the oil fill dipstick.

Fuel m ustmeettheserequirements:
Clean, f resh,unleaded gasoline.
Aminimumof 87octane/87 AKI(91RON).
Gasoline with up to 10%ethanol(gasohol) i sacceptable.
Refuel i nawell-ventilated areawith the enginestopped. I f theenginehasbeen
running, a llowit to coolfirst. Never r efuelthe engineinside a buildingwhere
gasoline fumesmayreach flamesor sparks.

Gasolineis highly flammable andexplosive,andyou canbe burned or
seriouslyinjuredwhen refueling. Stopengine andkeepheat, sparks,and
flame away.Refuel o nly outdoors.Wipeup spills immediately.
Ifyour e quipment willbeused onaninfrequent orintermittent
basis, please
refer t otheOffSeason Storage section f oradditional information
regarding fuel
deterioration.
NOTE: Fuelcandamage paintandsometypesof plastic.Be carefulnotto spill fuel
whenfilling yourfueltank.
Never u sestaleor contaminated gasoline or anoil/gasoline mixture.Avoidgetting
dirt or waterinthe fuel tank.
1.
Remove t he fueltank cap.
2.
Fillthe fueltank with fuel.Toallowfor expansion of thefuel, do notfill
above the bottomof the fueltank neck.Donot overfill.Wipeup spilled fuel
beforestartingthe engine.
3.
Installthe fueltank capandtightenit until it clicks.
4.
Movelawnmowerat least10feetawayfrom thefuel container/source and
sitebefore startingthe engine.
Donot useunapprovedgasolines, suchasE85.Donot mix oil in gasoline
or modify engineto run on alternate fuels. Thiswill damagethe engine
componentsandvoidthe engine warranty.
