Note that the WAV playback levels are set by a level control before sum-
ming with the monitor outputs.
The hardware input and output mixers are controlled by two software
entities: the Windows Playback Mixer and the DMAN 2044 Audio
Settings property page.

Windows Playback Mixer

The DMAN 2044 playback and monitor levels are handled by the mixer
application (SNDVOL32) that is built into Windows. SNDVOL32 shows
up as a little speaker icon on the Windows task bar. Double-clicking the
speaker icon will open the Playback Mixer and it should look like this:
The leftmost four volume sliders control the levels of each WAV output
(Playback 1 through Playback 4) – these are the WAV audio streams com-
ing from your software application. Dragging these volume sliders with
the mouse will adjust the output levels of each WAV playback channel.
Notice also that the Balance controls are grayed out and therefore dis-
abled. That is because each control is mono, not stereo.
The rightmost four volume sliders control the levels of each monitor
