Before operation,
gasoline
must be mixed with agood quality synthetic
2-cycle air-cooled
engine oil d esigned
tobe
mixed at a ratio of 4 0:1. Poulan/WEED
EATER
brand synthetic
oil isrecommended.
Mix g as-
oline and oil a taratio o f40:1. A40:1 r atio i s
obtained
by mixing
3.2 fluid o unces
(95 ml) o f
oil w ith 1 gallon (4 liters) ofunleaded
gasoline.
DO NOT U SE automotive
oilorboat oil.
These oils w ill cause engine
damage.
When
mixing
fuel, follow instructions
printed
on con-
tainer. Once o il i sadded togasoline,
shake
container
momentarily
toassure that the fuel
isthoroughly
mixed. Always read a nd f ollow
the safety rules relating
tofuel before fueling
your unit.
CAUTION: Never use straight
gasoline
in
your unit. This w ill c ause permanent
engine
damage
and v oid the limited
warranty.
FUEL R EQUIREMENTS
This e ngine requires
the use ofminimum
87
octane [R+M]/2
clean gasoline.
IMPORTANT
Use o f a lcohol
blended
fuels (called
gasohol
or
using ethanol
or methanol)
can c ause major en-
gine p erformance
and d urability
problems.
_I_,WARNING:
Alternative
fuels
(not
gasoline)
such as E-15
(15% alcohol),
E-20
(20% alcohol),
E-85
(85% alcohol) are NOT
classified
as gasoline and are NOT approved
for use in 2-stroke
gasoline engines.
Use of
alternative
fuels will cause problems
such as:
improper
clutch
engagements,
overheating,
vapor lock, power loss, lubrication
deficiency,
deterioration
of fuel lines, gaskets
and internal
carburetor
components,
etc. Alternative
fuels
cause high moisture absorption into the fuel/oil
mixture leading to oil and fuel separation.
TO STOP
THE
ENGINE
• To stop the engine,
move the throttle lever
the STOP _
position and hold until
to
en-
gine stops running.
STARTING
YOUR
ENGINE
_ILWARNING:
You MUST
make
sure
the tube is secure before using the unit.
• Fuel engine.
Move at least 10 feet (3 me-
ters) away from the fueling
site.
• Hold
the unit in the starting
position
as
shown.
Make
sure the blower
end is di-
rected
away from people,
animals,
glass,
and solid objects.

WARNINu:
When
starting
engine,
hold the unit as illustrated.
Do not set unit on
any surface
except
a clean, hard area when
starting
engine
or while
engine
is running.
Debris such as gravel, sand, dust, grass, etc.
could
be picked
up by the air intake
and
thrown
out through
the discharge
opening,
damaging
the unit or property,
or causing
serious
injury to bystanders
or the operator.
STARTING A COLD ENGINE (or a
warm engine
after running out of
fuel)
1. Slowly press the primer bulb 6 times.
2. Move throttle lever to the START position.
3. Move choke lever to the FULL CHOKE
position.

Pull starter
rope sharply
until engine at-
tempts to run, but no more than 5 pulls.
5.
Move choke lever to HALF CHOKE
posi-
tion. Pull starter rope sharply
until engine
runs.
NOTE:
If engine has not started after 5 pulls,
repeat all of the above steps.
6.
After
a 10 second
warm-up,
move the
choke lever to the RUN position.
