Accidental erasure prevention

Basic Recording
Turn on the VCR and TV, and select the VCR channel (or AV
mode).
[] Load a cassette
Make sure the re_ord safety till) is intact. If not, (over the hole with
adhesive tape before inserting the cassette.
• The VCR turns on, and the (ounter on the on-s( reen display is
reset, automatically.
[] Select r ecording channel
Press CH+/- or the Number keys on the Remote. Or push the JOG
dial, then turn it to the left or right.
• If you connect the TV and theVCR only using the RF
(onne(tion (_ _ pg. 5), press TV/VCR on the Remote so that the
VCR mode indicator lights on the display panel, to view the
program to be re(orded.
[] Set tapespeed
Press SP/EP. The selected tape speed will appear on the TV s( teen.
NOTES:
• On the VCR, you can sele(t tape speed in the stop mode, durin_
re_ onling rnod_ or during recording pause mode.
• On the Remote, you carl select tape speed only in tile stop
mod_ or durin_ recording pause mode.
[] Stall recording
On the VCR, press REC (S). Or on the Remote, while holding REC
(S), press PLAY (1_).
NOTE:
If "VIDEO C_,I lBRATTON" is set to "ON" (_- _ pg. !5) (d_fault
setting), tile VCR takes about 7 second.s to assess the quality of the
tape in use, then recordin_ beff_ins with the picture level
optimized.
Press PAUSE (11).
• Press PLAY (11_) to resume recording.
• You can select channel in the recording pause mode.
Press STOP (m!onme O. P_s_STOP/EJECT (mt_--; o n
Remote. the VCR.
NOTE:
If the tape reaches it_ end during recording, tile recording stops
and "0" and "[>" on the display panel blink. Press STOP/EJECT
(1 /Am) on the VCR to eject tile cassette or press REW (4141) on tile
Remote to rewind the tape.
Recording Features
Turn on the VCR and TV, and sele(t the VCR ( hannel (or AV
mode).
Specifying recording length
- Instant T imerRecording (ITR)
During recording, press REC (S) on the VCR repeatedly until the
recording length you want appears on the display panel. [he
re(ord indi(ator (O) on the display panel starts blinking.
• Each time you press the button, recording length increases in
30-minute intervals (up to 6 hours).
• [he VCR shuts off after recording is finished.
• To cancel an EER, press STOP (I) on the Remote or STOP/EJECT
(I/_---) on the VCR.
Watching oneprogramwhilerecording another
During recording...
• If you (onnect the TV and the VCR only using the RF
connection (z_" pg. 5) to view pictures from the VCR, press TV/
VCR on the Remote so that VCR mode indicator goes off from
the display panel. (The TV broadcast being re(ordeal
disappears.)
• If you are using the AV connection (Z_ _ pg. 5) to view pictures
from the VCR, change the TV's input mode from AV to IV.
Then, select the channel you want to watt h, on theTV.
Second AudioRecording
This VCR's built-in MTS decoder enables reception of
Multiehannel TV Sound broadcast.To record a SAP program
received, set "2ND AUDIO RECORD" to "ON" (L_-° pg. 1,5).
S-VHS(SuperVHS), S-VHSETorVHS Recording
Mode
This VCR (an record in S-VHS (Super VHS), S-VHS EE or VHS.
• To record in S-VHS:
Set "S-VHS MODE" to "ON" (ZJ _ pg. 1 6). Then, insert a ( assette
marked "S-VHS'. [he S-VHS indi(ator lights up on the display
panel.
The S-VHS recording mode is selected.
• To record in S-VHS ET on a VHS cassette:
Set "S-VHS ET" to "ON" (z7 _ pg. 15). Then, insert a (assette
marked "VHS'. The S-VHS indi(ator lights up on the display
panel.
• To record in VHS:
Insert a _assette marked "VHS'.
Set "S-VHS ET" to "OFF" (_-_ pg. 1.5).
• To record in VHS on an S-VHS cassette:
Insert a cassette marked "S-VHS'. The S-VHS indi(ator lights up
on the display paneh Then, set "S-VHS MODE" to "OFF"
(z$ :_pg. 1 6). The S-VHS indicator goes• ()ff.
[he VHS recording mode is selected.
NOTE:
When playing ba_k a tape that has been re(orded in S-VHS or
S-VHS ET, the S-VHS indicator lights up on the display panel
regardless of the "S-VHS ET" (z_:_ pg. 15) or "S-VHS MODE"
(Z_:_ pg. 16) setting.
