MAINS SUPPLY
Mains adaptor (some versions only)
AQ 6485 Stereo Cassette Player
The voltage of the 3V adaptor must match with the local voltage.
The 3.5 mm adapter plug's 1.3 mm centre pin must also be connected
to the minus pole -.
• Connect the mains adaptor to the set's DC 3V socket.
• Always disconnect the mains adaptor if you are not using it.
Batteries (optional)
• Open the battery door and insert two alkaline batteries, type R6,
D B B
D B B
UM3 or AA as indicated. Use of Philips POWER LIFE batteries gives
up to 18 hours of cassette playback. (Illustration: please turn over)
• Remove the batteries from the set if they are exhausted or not to
be used for a long time.

DBB: DYNAMIC BASS BOOST
• To activate the DBB (Dynamic Bass Boost) function, push the DBB
slide panel up (on).
• To deactivate the DBB function, slide the panel down (off).
CASSETTE PLAYBACK
1 Open the cassette holder and insert a tape with the full reel on
your right.
2 Press the cassette holder lightly to shut.
3 Connect headphones to the p socket.
4 Set the CrO2/METAL•NORM tape selector to match your inserted
tape type:
– CrO2/METAL for CHROME (IEC II) or METAL (IEC IV);
– NORM for (IEC I) NORMAL type cassettes.
5 To start playback, press 1.
6 Adjust the sound with the VOLUME and DBB controls.

7 To stop playback, press 9 and the set is switched off.
8 To fast wind, press 5, to rewind, press 6.
Press 9 to stop winding.

Using the belt clip
1 To attach, position the shaped grip (found on the back of the belt
clip) so that it fits into the belt clip hole.
2 Turn the clip to LOCK as indicated on the set.
3 To detach, gently lift and turn the clip to RELEASE as indicated on
the set and then remove completely.
USE YOUR HEAD WHEN USING HEADPHONES
• Hearing safety: Listen at a moderate volume. Use at high volume
can impair your hearing!
• Traffic safety: Do not use headphones while driving or cycling as
you may cause an accident!
MAINTENANCE
• Clean the magnetic head after every 50 hours of use or, on
average, once a month by playing a cleaning cassette.
• Do not expose the set and cassettes to rain, moisture, sand, or
excessive heat from e.g. heating equipment or vehicles parked in

If a problem occurs, check the points listed below before taking the
unit for repair. If you are unable to solve a problem by following these
suggestions, consult your dealer or service centre.

invalidate your guarantee.

• Clean tape head (see MAINTENANCE)
