Delete Continuous Access Synchronous Z

You can delete the Continuous Access Synchronous Z relationship between the main and remote
system.
Prerequisite information
All Continuous Access Synchronous Z pairs must be deleted.
All logical paths will be deleted when the relationship is deleted.
Deleting the Continuous Access Synchronous Z relationship with a remote system does not
affect the Continuous Access Synchronous Z operations between other main system CUs and
that remote system.
After a remote system is deleted, you can reconfigure the data path to add another remote
system (RCU) to the main system, or you can remove the data path and reconfigure the main
system ports (initiator ports to ordinary target ports for fiber) to provide additional host channels
for the main system.
Procedure 18 To delete the Continuous Access Synchronous Z relationship between one or more
remote systems (RCUs) and a main system

On the menu bar, click Actions > Remote Copy > Continuous Access Synchronous for Mainframe
> RCU Operation. The RCU Operation window opens.

Change to Modify mode by clicking the

Make sure MCU&RCU is selected in Display.
4.
Click the main system CU, then select the RCU(s) that you want to delete from the RCU list.
Right-click and click RCU Operation/ Delete RCU.

When the confirmation message appears, click OK.
6.
Verify the requested operation(s) in the Preview list.
To remove one or more operations, select the operation(s) from the preview list, right-click,
and click Delete.
7.
When ready, click Apply.

Managing power-off for disk arrays and network devices

Though you are responsible for controlling power-off activities, it is advisable to check with your
HP representative.
The following sections provide instructions for performing planned outages when Continuous Access
Synchronous Z is present.

General information

Please review the following system behaviors regarding powering off:
If power is removed from a main system while Continuous Access Synchronous Z operations
are in progress, the Continuous Access Synchronous Z pairs are not affected.
When power is restored on the main system, the system communicates with the remote system(s)
to confirm R-VOL pair status(es). Make sure that Continuous Access Synchronous Z
icon.
