Replacing Modules

If any module has a fault, you should acquire a replacement module before removing the failed module and
install a replacement module. Since the modules are hot pluggable, they can be replaced even when the
array is online with the host.
When replacing a fan module, do not leave a fan slot empty for more than ten minutes or a "power off
pending" error will occur. When a fan slot is empty, the disk array will not be cooled properly. Without
adequate cooling, disk module failures may occur.
The control panel display module or backplane assembly should be replaced only by a qualified Field
Service Engineer.
To maintain availability while replacing a power module, always make sure that there are three power
modules installed (to provide redundancy), then remove the failed power module. Never remove a power
module from a disk array with only two power modules while the disk array is functioning.
All modules are replaced in the same way (see
