Installingthe DeckChute
Note: Determine if yourdeckisa newermodel, o r an oldermodel.Refer t o
the upperinsetof Figure17.Ifyourdeckhas a mountingstudpresent, t hen
youhaveanewerdeckmodelandyouwouldfollowthe instructions below.
If nostud ispresent, r eferto the instructions titled OnTractors With Older
DeckConfigurations laterinthissection.
Withthe tractor'sdischarge c huteraised up andheldopen(1),installthe
chuteelbowbyplacing the chuteelbowmountingrodintothe holeprovided
ineitheryourdeckwheelbracket o r chutemountingtab (2),asseenin
Figure 16.

Secure the chuteelbowtothe deckusingthe wingknob720-04122 from
hardware pack689-00312. SeeFigure 17.
Note:Ifpresent, r emove the protective capoffof the mountingstudonthe
mowingdeckasseeninthe upperinsetof Figure 17.
OnTractorswith Older DeckConfigurations
Installthe rubberchutestrap,from hardwarepack 689-00313, ontothe
chuteelbow usingtheclevis pin(711-0S063), washer ( 736-0204) andBow-tie
cotterpin(714-04040) fromhardware p ack 689-00313. See Figure 18.Secure t he
endofthestrap utilizing the hole furthest f romtheend, i nsert t he torsion spring
hook (732-04510A) intotheotherend.
Note:On decks withfrontdeck wheels, the bootmountrodmustberemoved in
order to install t hisdischarge c huteel b owontothetractor. S ee Figure 18.

Installthe deckmountingpin (711-05049) up into thechuteelbowusing two
flat washers ( 936-0176) fromhardware pack 689-00313 a ndsecure w ithaflange
lock nut (912-3027), asseeninFigure 19.
With the tractor'sdischarge c huteraised upandheldopen,installthe chute
elbowoverthe chuteopeningbyplacingthe deckmountingpin inthe hole
provided, a sseeninFigure19, t hensecure the elbowto the deckby hooking
the retainerstraptorsionspringhookoverthe deckwheelmountingbracket
a seeninFigure 20.
