This chapter provides detailed information on using, administering, and configuring
optional HAFM's features through HAFM applications. There are two types of
features covered in this chapter:

"Keyed" features, requiring feature keys to be purchased and enabled through the
Configure Feature Key dialog box in the product's Product Manager application.
•
Features not requiring feature keys themselves, but requiring that specific keyed
features be enabled before they can be accessed through HAFM or Product
Manager applications.

FICON Management Server
The FICON Management Server is a keyed feature that allows host control and inband
management of the director or switch through an IBM System/390 or zSeries 900
Parallel Enterprise Server attached to a director or switch port. The server
communicates with the switch or director through a FICON channel. Control of
connectivity and statistical product monitoring are provided through a host-attached
console.
