TROUBLESHOOTING
- MOTOR
NOTE:
Motors used on wood working too_s
are
particularly susceptible to the
accumulation of sawdust and wood chips and should
be blown out or %,acuumed"
frequently to prevent interference with normat rr_otor ventilation.
TROUBLE
Excessive noise.
Motor fails to develop
full power. NOTE:
Low Voltage:
(Power output of
motor decreases
rapidly with decrease
in voltage at motor
terminals. For example,
a reduction of 10% in
voltage causes a
reduction of 19% in
maximum power
output of which the
motor is capable, and
a reduction of 20% ih
voltage causes a
reduction of 36% in
maximum power
output.)
Motor starts slowly
or falls to come up
to full speed.
Motor overheats.
Moto r stalls
(Resulting in blown
fuses or tripped
circuit breakers.)
Frequent opening of
fuses or circuit
breakers.
PROBABLE CAUSE
1. Motor
1. Circuit overloaded with
lights, appliances and other
motors.
2. Undersize wires or circuit
too long.
General overloading of
power company facilities.
(In some sections of the
country, demand for elec-
trical power may exceed
the capacity of existing
generating and distribution
systems.)
.
4. incorrect fuses or circuit
breakers in power line.
1. Low voltage.
REMEDY
1 .__motor
checked by qualified service techni-
cian.
Repair service is available at your nearest
Sears
store.
1. Do not use other appliances or motors on same
circuit
when using the saw.
2. increase
wire sizes, or reduce length of wiring.
See "Motor Specifications
and Electrical Require-
ments"
section.
3. Request
a voltage check from the power
company.
4.
Install
correct fuses or circuit breakers.
!.
Request
voltage check from the power company.
1. Do
not cut so fast - feed work slower into blade.
2. Clean
out sawdust to provide normal air circulation
through
motor. See "Maintenance and
Lubrication"
section.
1. Request
voltage check from the power company.
1. Motor overloaded
2. Improper cooling. (Air
circulation restricted
through motor due to
sawdust, accumulating
inside o! saw.)
1+ Voltage too low to permit
motor to reach operating
speed.
2. Fuses or circuit breakers
do not have sufficient
capacity.
1. Motor overloaded
2. Fuses or circuit breakers
do not have sufficient
capacity.
2. _nstall proper size fuses or circuit breakers.
