SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS
CAUTION: ALWAYS STOP THE ENGINE I
AND DISCONNECT THE SPARK PLUG
WIRE BEFORE MAKING ANY REPAIRS
TO THE EDGER/TRIMMER.
V-BELT REPLACEMENT
Your edger/trimmerisequipped with a V-belt made of a
specialcompound.If the belt becomes worn or breaks,
replaceit with an original equipment belt as shownin
the Repair Parts sectionof this manual. NEVER USE A
SUBSTITUTE,
•
Disconnectthe sparkplug wire from the spark plug.
•
Pull the clutch lever back (or up) to release the
tensionfrom the belt.
Remove the two top screws from the engine pulley
cover (See Fig. 12) and remove the cover.
NOTE: Make sure youdo not losethe spacer on the roar
screwor the two long spacers on the inside.
•
Remove the front screw secudng the belt guide
(See Fig. 12) to the engine. Then loosen the rear
screw and swingthe belt guide away from the belt.
•
Removethetwo (2) screwsfromthe beifguard (See
Fig. 13). Remove the belt guard.
•
Carefully,spread open the front belt guide enough
to allow belt to be removed from quill pulley.
•
Removethe beltfromthe engine and quillassembly
pulleys and installthe new bell in reverse order of
removal.
•
Installand secure front belt guard.
•
Secure the belt guide loosenedearlier.
•
Reinstallthe enginepulley cover and reconnect the
spark plug wire.
BLADE REPLACEMENT
The cuttingblade is subjectto wear and damage such as
nicksand dents.This will notgenerallyaffect itsfunction.
This blade is speciallydesigned to not requiresharpen-
ing. DO NOT A'I-I'EMPT TO SHARPEN THIS BLADE.
The blade is reversible. It the nicks and dents are
excessive,removethe blade,turn itaroundand reinstall.
This willprovidea freshcutiingedge. Ifwornor damaged
the blade shouldbe replaced.

USE THE METHOD SHOWN IN FIGURE
14. THE HOLDING WRENCH MUST AL-
WAYS BE POSITIONED ON THE NUT
BEHIND THE CUTTING BLADE.
