Therearethreeways to convert t o an RJ]1receptacle. Thefirsttwowaysmay
requireassistance f romthetelephone company. Youcanchangethewalloutlets
fromoneRJ14 jacktotwoRJll jacks.O1; y oucanhavean RJll walloutlet
installed and slaveorjumponeofthephonenumbersto it.
Thethirdwayistheeasiest: B uya triplexadapter. Y oucanplug a triplexadapter
intoan RJ14 outlet.It separates t hewiresintotwoseparateRJll jacks(Line1,
Line2) and a thirdRJ14 jack(Lines1and 2).Plugthe F_"_IFCintoLine2of
thetriplexadapter.

Installing FAX/MFC, External Two-Line TAD,
and Two-Line Telephone
When you are installing an external two-linetelephone answeringdevice(TAD)
and a two-linetelephone,your F_'gMFCmust be isolatedon one line at both the
wall jack and at the TAD. T he most common connection is to put the F_MFC on
Line2. The back of the two-lineTAD must have twotelephone jacks:one labeled
L1or L1/L2,and the other labeled L2.Youwill need at leastthree telephoneline
cords,the one that camewith your F_'ffMFC and twofor your externaltwo-line
TAD. Youwill need a fourth line cord ifNu add a two-linetelephone.
Placethetwo-line TAD and thetwo-line telephone nextto yourFAX/MFC.

3 Plug one end of the first telephone line cord for },'ourTADinto the L1 jack of
the triplex adapter. Plug the other end into the L1 or L1/L2 jack of the
two-line TAD.
