Genie (Adv Whole-Home) HD DVR is the most comprehensive,
flexible and cost effective HD DVR experience from DIRECTV.
The Genie HD DVR (HR44, HR34 and above), together with Genie
Clients or RVU-enabled TVs, can serve your entire home, and
provides you and your family the flexibility to watch the content of
your choice, on your own schedules.
You can use your Genie HD DVR in three ways:
1. As a standalone HD DVR - connect it and get all the
enhancements and superior receiver features of the HR44,
HR34 and above.
As an HD DVR in a Whole-Home DVR setup - Genie enhances

your current Whole-Home setup. When connected to other HD
receivers as the hub of your Whole-Home DVR experience, the
Genie HD DVR allows you to stream recordings to four active
rooms simultaneously (up to three Clients)*.
3. As a Genie server connected to Genie Client and/or RVU-
enabled devices - The DIRECTV Genie HD DVR can stream
content and features to RVU (remote viewing)-enabled TVs,
Clients and other devices, giving you full HD DVR functionality
in every room. For example, if your Genie HD DVR is connected
to an HDTV in your Living Room, as well as to a Client and
HDTV in your Office, plus RVU-enabled TVs in the Bedroom and
Kids' Room, you don't need a separate DIRECTV Receiver in
each room: the Client/s and/or RVU-enabled TVs let you watch,
record and manage your shows directly, via the Genie (Adv
Whole-Home) HD DVR.
