7-7. Setting end backtacking (B856E, B855E/BT only)

When the treadle is depressed backward, you can sew a set number of stitches at a narrow pitch to create end backtack
stitches.
The stitch pitch at this time can be adjusted using the condense dial. (If a negative value is set, the material will be fed
in the reverse direction.)

Turning the end backtack function on and off
The condition changes as shown below each time the end backtack key q is pressed.

End backtacking is carried out when the end backtack indicator w is illuminated.

Zigzag width display, etc.

End backtack sewing speed
The sewing machine operates at a speed of 1,200 rpm when sewing end backtack stitches.

The number of end backtack stitches can be set without
having to press the SET key.
1. Press the end backtack key q.
The indicator w will illuminate, and C** will appear
on the LED display e as the current setting for the num-
ber of end backtack stitches.
(For example, C+5 represents 5 end backtack stitches.)

2. Press the
ROM
setting for the number of end backtack stitches to be-
tween 1 and 99.
3. Carry out sewing. When the treadle is depressed back-
ward, the end backtack stitches will be sewn. (For the
B856E, the thread will then be trimmed.)
Note:
• The sewing machine will continue operating until the
set number of end backtack stitches has been sewn,
even if the treadle is returned to the neutral position.
• The set number of end backtack stitches will be sewn
regardless of the zigzag stop position setting.
