2. Follow the on-line instruction to create a "Driver Diskette". This Driver
Diskette contains the drivers for SCSI controllers and LAN cards.
3. Follow the instructions listed in Section 2, above, to install NetWare. The
installation process for each NetWare version is different. Follow the
instructions below for the specific version of NetWare that you've installed:
Installing the J3171A LAN Card Driver on NetWare 3.12
For NetWare 3.12, the system will not search for LAN card drivers. You have to do it
manually:
When install exits to the system console:
1. Down the server.
2. Insert the Drivers Diskette in drive A and copy the HP J3171A drivers to the
SERVER.312 boot directory by entering the command:
C:\COPY A:\J3171A\NW41&312\*.* C:\SERVER.312
3. Boot NetWare on the server by entering the command:
C:\SERVER.312\SERVER
4. Enter the commands:
LOAD MSM31X
LOAD ETHERTSM.NLM
LOAD HPTX Frame=Ethernet_802.2
BIND IPX TO HPTX
Note the slot number for the HPTX driver when it loads.
5. Enter the command:
LOAD INSTALL
6. In the "System Options" menu, select "Create AUTOEXEC.NCF file".
7. Change the "LOAD HPTX ..." line to "LOAD HPTX SLOT=x ...", where x is the
slot number for the HPTX driver, which you noted when you loaded the driver.
8. Press <Esc> to save the file.
Installing the J3171A LAN Card Driver on NetWare 4.10
When installing NetWare 4.10, do not load any network drivers. Complete installation
first. Then follow these instructions:
1. Down the server.
2. Insert the Drivers Diskette in drive A and copy the HP J3171A drivers to the
NWSERVER directory boot directory by entering the command:
C:\COPY A:\J3171A\NW411\*.* C:\NWSERVER
3. Boot NetWare on the server by entering the command:
