Prerequisite information for creating the delta resync pair

A Continuous Access Journal Z delta resync pair is created in a 3DC Multitarget configuration
only.
Do not include the 3DC Multi-target configuration in the system that consists of multiple primary
and secondary storage systems.
Continuous Access Journal Z delta resync M-VOL = Continuous Access Synchronous Z
secondary volume (R-VOL) at the intermediate site.
Use Continuous Access Synchronous Z R-VOL in Duplex status as the primary data volume.
Continuous Access Journal Z delta resync S-VOL = Continuous Access Journal Z S-VOL at the
remote site.
Use Continuous Access Journal Z data volume in Duplex status as the secondary data volume.
Delta resync P-VOLs in the same master journal must:
Be paired with S-VOLs in the same restore journal
Use the same mirror ID
The mirror ID must be between 1 and 3, but cannot be the same as you assigned to the
Continuous Access Journal Z pair in the 3DC multitarget configuration.
Fulfill the conditions to combine Continuous Access Journal Z with other functions in
Table 27 (page 129)
System option mode 506 must be ON for delta resync.
The delta resync configuration does not support a Continuous Access Journal Z S-VOL that is
a V-VOL and a Business Copy P-VOL.
In addition to the requirements listed here, all Continuous Access Journal Z pairs in the journal
group must satisfy the following requirements when you create more than one Continuous
Access Journal Z pair for delta resync operation.
Use the same mirror ID.
Be paired with S-VOLs in the same restore journal.

Prerequisite information for performing delta resync operation

Before performing delta resync operations, specify a Continuous Access Journal Z pair belonging
to the journal group whose Continuous Access Journal Z pairs meet the following requirements:
Status of the primary data volume is Hold.
Using the volume of Continuous Access Synchronous Z pair as the primary data volume.
If you use Continuous Access Synchronous Z M-VOL, the pair status should be Duplex or
Swapping.
If you use Continuous Access Synchronous Z R-VOL, the pair status should be Swapping.
Check the pair status after executing the Business Continuity Manager YKSUSPEND REVERSE
command and YKRESYNC REVERSE command.
Secondary data volume uses two mirror IDs; the status of the secondary volume that uses one
of the two mirror IDs is Hold, and the status of the secondary volume that uses another mirror
ID is Duplex or Suspend.
All differential data between the primary and secondary data volume is stored in the master
journal group.
After creating the Continuous Access Journal Z pair for delta resync operation (or if the failure
occurred at the primary site right after the recovery of Continuous Access Synchronous Z or
Continuous Access Journal Z pair), only a part of the differential data between the primary
and secondary data volume may be stored in the master journal group.
