Correcting errors made when powering-off
If a secondary system remains in Suspending status because you initiated a power-off while the
primary system was copying data, delete the pair forcibly in both the primary and secondary
systems and then recreate the pair.

Power-off primary and secondary systems at the same time

The primary system must be powered off before the secondary system is powered off. When you
are ready to power the systems on, the secondary system must be powered on before the primary
system.
If multiple primary and secondary systems are used with EXCTGs, insure that all pairs in the EXCTGs
are split. When powering off the primary systems, power off the supervisor DKC first, and then the
subordinate DKCs.
The following is the procedure for powering off the primary and secondary systems at the same
time:
1.
Split all pairs that will be affected. For example, if two primary systems and one secondary
system are connected to each other and you want to power off one of the primary system and
the secondary system, you must split the pairs on all three systems since they are all affected.
2.
After the pairs are split, confirm that their status is Suspend at the primary system.
3.
Power off the primary system.
4.
Power off the secondary system.
5.
Power on the secondary system.
6.
When the secondary system is ready to resume copy operations, power on the primary system.
CAUTION:
Access Journal Z operations; otherwise the pairs could be suspended with a failure.
7.
When the primary system is ready to resume copy operations, restore the pairs that have been
split at the primary system. Confirm that the status of the pairs is changed to Pending duplex
or Duplex.
After turning power on or off for both the primary and secondary system at the same time, if pair
status at primary system is Suspend and a status of a pair of secondary storage system is Duplex,
use Remote Web Console to suspend the pair of the secondary system. After confirming that the
statuses of the pair on both systems is Suspend, restore the pair at the primary system.
CAUTION:
Suspend, and then you turn the power back on, the status of all data volume pairs could be
suspended according to a failure.

Power-off network relay devices

To power off a network relay device during copy operations
1.
Insure that all pairs or mirrors are split and that the status of all the pairs is Suspend.
2.
Power off the device.
3.
When ready power on the network relay device.
4.
When the network relay device is ready for copy operations, from the primary site, restore
the pairs that have been split.
5.
Confirm that pair status is Pending duplex or Duplex.
104 Maintaining the system
Wait five (5) minutes after powering on a system before performing Continuous
If you turn the power off without changing the status of all data volume pairs to
