ABOUT
STEAM
Steam technology allows you to inject fabrics with a
swirling jet of hot steam to remove wrinkles and deodorize
clothes with the STEAM REFRESH cycle. In addition,
steam can be used on many other cycles to help prevent
static electricity buildup at the end of the cycle.
The STEAM REFRESH cycle will refresh from 1 to 5
garments. For best results, only refresh items of similar
size and fabric type. Best results are obtained with 70/30
cotton/poly blend fabrics.
Using the STEAM REFRESH
cycle
The STEAM REFRESH cycle uses the power of steam to
quickly reduce wrinkles and odor in fabrics. It brings new
life to wrinkled clothes that have been stored for an
extended time, and it can make heavily wrinkled clothes
easier to iron. STEAM REFRESH can also be used to
help reduce odors in clothes, such as clothes that were
worn in a room where people have been smoking.
This cycle can refresh from 1 to 5 garments, or one bulky
item such as a comforter. Best results are achieved on
cotton/poly blend fabrics.
NOTE: The STATIC SHIELD option can be used together
with the STEAM REFRESH cycle to help prevent static
electricity.
O Turn on the dryer and rotate the cycle selector know to
select the STEAM REFRESH cycle.
O Select the STATIC SHIELD option, if desired.
O The default number of garments is 3. Press the MORE
TIME or LESS TIME button to select the number of
garments in the load. Select b19 to refresh bulky items
such as comforters.
O Press the START/PAUSE button to start the cycle.
NOTE: The STEAM REFRESH cycle automatically
selects the WRINKLE GUARD feature to prevent
wrinkles from being set in the clothes if you don't
unload it immediately after the cycle finishes.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT STEAM CYCLES:
• Steam may not be clearly visible during the Steam
Cycles. This is normal.
• Do not use Steam Refresh with items such as wool,
wool blanket, leather jackets, silk, wet clothes, lingerie,
foam products, or electric blankets.
• For best results, load articles of similar size and
fabric type. Do not overload.
• When the filter/duct is clogged, the Steam option
may not have optimal results.
• When the Steam function is operating, the drum will
stop to allow steam to stay in the drum.
• The steam feeder must be filled with water up to
the MAX line. Otherwise, an Error message will be
displayed.
• If the exhaust duct is restricted or the lint filter is not
clean, the steam cycles or options may not give prop-
er results. See pages 14-15 for venting requirements.
Using the STATIC SHIELD Option
This option injects steam late in the drying
cycle to reduce the static electricity caused
by dry fabrics rubbing together. Change the
amount of time for the cycle by pressing the
MORE TIME and LESS TIME buttons until
the display shows the number of articles in the load.
The STATIC SHIELD option can be used with the NOR-
MAL, BULKY/BEDDING,
HEAVY DUTY, CASUAL,DELI-
CATES, EXPRESS DRY, TIMED DRY cycles.
NOTES:
• When STATIC SHIELD is added to sensor dry cycles,
the LESS and DAMP dryness levels cannot be
selected.
• STATIC SHIELD can be used with TIMED DRY cycles.
• After the STATIC SHIELD option is selected in TIMED
DRY, the MORE TIME and LESS TIME buttons will
change the steam time ONLY.
• After the cycle has started, the MORE TIME and LESS
TIME buttons are disabled.
