Configuring MST

To enable MST on the switch, perform this task:

switch# configure terminal
Step 2
switch(config)# spanning-tree mode mst
This example shows how to enable MST on the switch:
switch# configure terminal
switch(config)# spanning-tree mode mst
To disable MST on the switch, perform this task:

switch(config)# no spanning-tree mode
mst
Caution
Changing the spanning tree mode can disrupt traffic because all spanning tree instances are stopped for
the previous mode and restarted in the new mode.
Note
Because STP is enabled by default, entering a show running command to view the resulting
configuration does not display the command that you entered to enable STP.

Entering MST Configuration Mode

You enter MST configuration mode to configure the MST name, VLAN-to-instance mapping, and MST
revision number on the switch.
For two or more switches to be in the same MST region, they must have the identical MST name,
VLAN-to-instance mapping, and MST revision number.
Each command reference line creates its pending regional configuration in MST configuration mode. In
