Using your Dell Pro Plus Wireless Speakerphone

There are three connections available for usage:

  • Wired USB
  • Bluetooth
  • Wireless Audio Receiver connection

Avoid using multiple connections to the same computer/host, as it may confuse when using multiple connections.

  1. Locate the USB Type-C cable at the bottom of your SL525. With the USB Type-C cable facing you, release the USB Type-C cable from the grooves on the speaker.

  2. Connect the USB-C cable or USB-A adapter of your SL525 to the USB-C or USB-A on your computer.

Turning on/off the speakerphone
Press and hold the power button for two seconds to turn on/off the speakerphone. You will hear power on/off voice prompt.

Bluetooth connection
Press and hold the Bluetooth button for three seconds to start the pairing mode and you hear a Bluetooth pairing voice prompt with white LED blinks.

Bluetooth Dell Pair connection
Dell Pair supports the following:

  • Detect Dell peripheral devices such as wireless speakerphone, wireless headset, mouse, and keyboard.
  • Seamlessly pair devices through Bluetooth.

Download and installation
Dell Pair is preinstalled on certain Dell computers. For more information about the list of Dell Pair compatible devices, see dell.com/support/kbdoc/000201693.
If the laptop model number is supported and Dell Pair is not available, then you can manually download and install the application.

  1. Go to dell.com/support.
  2. In the Search support box, enter the Service Tag of your computer and then click Search.
  3. In the Drivers & Downloads section, download the Dell Pair executable file.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. After the installation is complete, Dell Pair is available on Windows start menu.

Steps to pair through Dell Pair
Place your wireless speakerphone next to the computer, and press the Bluetooth pair button to activate the Dell pair application. Dell Pair notifies when a supported device is turned on. Click Pair to begin a Bluetooth pairing with the device.

Wireless Audio Receiver connection
Connect the USB Type-C wireless audio receiver to a USB-A adapter and connect the adapter to the computer or connect the wireless audio receiver directly to the computer.

  • Power LED: Lights up blue for 3 seconds and slowly blinks in blue when the speakerphone is successfully connected to the device.
  • USB-C Wireless Audio Receiver LED: Blinks blue when not connected and lights up blue when connected.

Battery Status
The user can hear battery high/medium/low voice prompt when turning on the speakerphone. Battery high voice prompt will be indicated when battery level at 70%~100%, battery medium voice prompt will be indicated when battery level at 69%~10%, battery low voice prompt will be indicated when battery level under 10% and right before power off.

Status indication

SL525 is a speakerphone which can be used for communication once it is connected to a computer equipment(USB cable or Bluetooth), Tablet/Phone(Bluetooth).

Operation behavior on Button and LED

  • Powered on:
    When powered on, the top-center LED will turn white.
  • Incoming call:
    When receiving an incoming call, the Answer/End call LED blinks in white.
    • Short press Answer/End call button to pick up the call.

  • During call(Microphone unmuted):
    Teams connected - Top center LED, Teams, Answer/End call, Mic LEDs will lit up with white color. If teams is not connected, Top center LED, Answer/End call, Mic LEDs will lit up with white color.

    When the microphone is muted, all the LEDs will turn red until the microphone is unmuted.

Charging the speakerphone

European Union (EU) has a common charger requirement for wireless products that have an embedded rechargeable battery. For more information about the EU charging power requirements, see Charging power requirement.
For speakerphone charging, connect the USB Type-C cable to your speakerphone's USB-C port, and then attach the other end to a power source of your choice.

Dell Display and Peripheral Manager

What is Dell Display and Peripheral Manager?
Dell Display and Peripheral Manager is an app that helps you set up and configure your Dell monitors and peripherals. With this app you can make changes to settings of the device and provide additional customization like Audio Mode, Microphone, Audio Output, and more.

Installing Dell Dispaly and Peripheral Manager
When you connect the device to your computer for the first time, you will be prompted to download and install the app. Alternatively, you can manually install the software from Drivers & Downloads tab on dell.com/support/SL525/downloads.

informationNOTE: If Dell Display and Peripheral Manager does not appear within a few minutes, you can check for updates manually via Windows Update or download the Dell Peripheral Manager application from dell.com/support/ddpm.

Problems Possible solutions

Why does my speakerphone turn on/off unexpectedly

When not connected via Bluetooth or wireless, power behavior depends on:

  • PC sleep/hibernate settings
  • Charging status
  • USB port type (e.g., always-on)
  • OS and hardware platform

It may turn on/off automatically or stay on/off unexpectedly due to power management or USB configurations.
Suggestion:
Check your PC's power settings, USB port behavior, and consider disabling "USB selective suspend" for consistent performance.

Update your system's BIOS and SL525 firmware

  • LEDs blinking with pink color | SL525's firmware is updating.
  • Update the BIOS and drivers of your computer.

  • Update your Dell Speakerphone SL525 firmware from.dell.com/support/drivers
  • Driver updates are only possible on Windows 10/11 64-Bit operating system.
  • Connect Dell Speakerphone SL525 to your computer before updating the firmware.
SL525's buttons don't respond while making a call via conferencing applications other than Teams
  • On applications other than Teams, it is recommended to use the in-app controls rather than the buttons on the Dell SL525.
  • Refer to speakerphone button behavior with various UC apps as above table in of the document.
Answer call button doesn't work when receiving calls from Teams
  • This occurs when you have multiple conferencing applications installed on your device and active simultaneously. In these scenarios, it is recommended to use the in-app controls rather than the buttons on the Dell Speakerphone SL525.

The Echo can be heard during the call

  • SL525 has the Echo cancellation feature, which minimizes and reduces any echo heard on calls.
    If you hear an echo from your device, it is possible that the user on the other end does not have the echo cancellation feature.

No audio

  • Disconnect and reconnect the Dell Speakerphone SL525 to your computer.
  • Check the computer sound setting and select the Dell Speakerphone SL525 as the playback device.
  • Adjust the volume settings to an adequate level.

Microphone doesn't work

  • Disconnect and reconnect the Dell Speakerphone SL525 to your computer.
  • Check the computer sound setting and select the Dell SL525 as the recording device.
Can't make a phone call or pick up an incoming call in device button via Line, WhatsApp and WeChat
  • The Answer Call button on the Dell Speakerphone SL525 is functional on Teams. For apps that are not supported, it is recommended to use the in-app controls rather than the buttons on the Dell Speakerphone SL525.

Abnormal sound

  • Remove any obstructions between SL525 and the user.
  • Reconnect SL525 with your device again.
  • Disable System Audio Enhancements.
When I mute or unmute the microphone using the Windows system control panel settings, the following issue or set of issues arises:
  • It does not correctly reflect the mute status on my speakerphone or within applications such as Teams and Zoom.
  • It results in delayed response on mute state in Teams and Zoom.
  • It displays error messages on Teams and Zoom.
  • Use the dedicated mute button on your speakerphone to control the mute or unmute feature in Teams and Zoom.
  • The Human Interface Device (HID) Telephony controls mute or unmute feature on Zoom and Teams. The mute button on your speakerphone supports HID Telephony but not by the Windows mute settings. Click the mute control on Teams and Zoom t ow response or error message.
  • Check the speakerphone connection mode – audio receiver or Bluetooth.
    Connect using the audio receiver because speakerphone buttons do not work when connected through Bluetooth.
The sound coming through the speakerphone appears to be at a lower or quieter level when I open the system control panel for audio devices
  • Close the control panel before using the speakerphone to listen to music or audio. The speakerphone has call and music modes with varying audio volumes.
    Accessing the system control panel temporarily switches it to call mode, but it reverts to music mode once you leave the control panel.

Volume control not working

  • Volume control key works only when the media is actively playing in the background.
Dell Pair notification does not open when a Bluetooth devices turned on for the first time
  • Windows 10 (version 19041) is the oldest version to support Dell Pair.
  • Bluetooth version 5.0 or later is available.
  • Bluetooth is supported on the computer. It has turned on under Windows settings.
  • The Bluetooth device supports detection by Dell Pair.
  • If the Bluetooth device is within the computer's detection range, and if the peripheral being connected is a mouse or keyboard, then pick up the device and move it closer to the PC.
  • Check that the computer and the Bluetooth devices have sufficient battery charge to operate.
  • The Bluetooth device must be updated to the latest firmware.
  • The Bluetooth controller on the computer is from Intel.
  • Power cycle the Bluetooth device.

Dell Pair reports a pairing error

  • Reconnect to Dell pair by performing the following steps:
  1. If a Bluetooth device is near the computer or in pairing mode, or if Dell Pair UI assists with the pairing process.
  2. Wait for the pairing error window to auto-dismiss, and then remove the Bluetooth device from the computer.
  3. Bring the Bluetooth device closer to the computer.
  4. Ensure that the Bluetooth device is in pairing mode and the pairing LED is blinking.
Bluetooth cannot auto reconnect to PC after PC restart - This is a known issue related to LE Audio PC
  • User can short-press Bluetooth button on SL525 to resolve the issue.
Multiple devices with a (?) are found in Device Manager
  • They are proprietary Bluetooth features or profiles that are supported by SL525.
    They are crucial for the proper functionality of Android/iOS phones. Since Windows is not using these profiles, Device Manager displays a (?) when no driver is loaded for these profiles.
