3 Known issues

HP SMH undergoes rigorous testing before releasing any given version of the product. From HP test activities
to date, the following items have been uncovered that you should keep in mind. Please also refer to the HP
System Management Homepage Installation Guide and HP System Management Homepage Online Help
for known issues.

HP SMH 3.0.0 release for HP-UX

The HP SMH 3.0.0 release does not support Apache 2.2.x.
The Japanese smh (1m) manpage does not open correctly. The workaround is to view the English
manpage by running the following command:
$> LANG=C man smh
The System Summary page and the Network Information page does not display complete
information. A warning message "User is denied permission to obtain Serviceguard
information." is displayed.
The first workaround is to add the host name (or the IP address) of the system on which HP SMH is
running, to the /.rhosts file and then refresh the page in HP SMH. When you add the host name or
the IP address to the /.rhosts file and refresh the page in HP SMH, the available complete information
is displayed.
The second workaround is to disable the SGProvider module. This workaround is applicable only if
you are not using HP Serviceguard. To disable the SGProvider module, run the following command:
$> cimprovider -d -m SGProvidersModule
NOTE:
the SGProvider module will not help to display the complete information. It will only stop displaying
the warning message.
You can enable the SGProviders module by running the following command:
$> cimprovider -e -m SGProvidersModule
The smhassist command does not work as expected.
When Perl software is installed on the system, the smhassist command may not work. This occurs
on both Integrity and PA-RISC machines. The workaround is to unzip the already installed smhassist
file and then run smhassist directly as Perl script.
To verify whether the smhassist command works properly, and implement the workaround if necessary,
complete the following steps:
1. Log in to the machine as 'root' user.
2. Verify whether Perl software is installed on the system by running the following command:
# swlist perl
3. If Perl is not installed, then you can run the smhassist command without any problem. There is
no need to do anything more.

The second workaround must be used only if you are not using HP Serviceguard. Disabling

Back up the original file by running the following command:
# cp -p /opt/hpsmh/bin/smhassist /opt/hpsmh/bin/smhassist.backup
Unzip the smhassist file by running the following command:
# /usr/local/bin/unzip /opt/hpsmh/bin/smhassist script/smhassist.pl
