Configuring CDP

Disabling and Enabling CDP on an Interface

CDP is enabled by default on all supported interfaces to send and to receive CDP information.
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to disable CDP on a port:

interface interface-id

no cdp enable
Step 4

Step 5
copy running-config startup-config
Beginning in privileged EXEC mode, follow these steps to enable CDP on a port when it has been
disabled:

configure terminal

interface interface-id
Step 3
cdp enable
Step 4
end
Step 5
copy running-config startup-config
This example shows how to enable CDP on a port when it has been disabled.
Switch# configure terminal
Switch(config)# interface gigabitethernet0/1
Switch(config-if)# cdp enable
Switch(config-if)# end

Purpose
Enter global configuration mode.
Specify the interface on which you are disabling CDP, and enter
interface configuration mode.
Note
If the interface is a UNI, you must enter the port-type nni
interface configuration command before configuring CDP.
Disable CDP on the interface.
Return to privileged EXEC mode.
(Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
Purpose
Enter global configuration mode.
Specify the interface on which you are enabling CDP, and enter
interface configuration mode.
Note
If the interface is a UNI, you must enter the port-type nni
interface configuration command before configuring CDP.
CDP is enabled on NNIs by default.
Enable CDP on the interface after disabling it.
Return to privileged EXEC mode.
(Optional) Save your entries in the configuration file.
