To manually rotate log files:
Shut down the server.

Move or rename the log file you are rotating in case you need the old log file

monitor your server and the information available to you in the performance
monitor.
Viewing the Server Performance Monitor
To monitor your server's activities using Directory Server Console:
In the Directory Server Console, select the Status tab. In the navigation tree,

select Performance Counters.
The Status tab in the right pane displays current information about server
activity. If the server is currently not running, this tab will not provide
performance monitoring information.
