Determine a network access method
Before installing the storage server hardware, decide which access
method will be used to connect to the storage server.
•
Direct attach — Connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse directly
to the storage server. This access method is mandatory if your network
does not have a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server.
•
Remote browser — Access the storage server through a client running
Internet Explorer 5.5 or later. ActiveX controls must be enabled on
the remote client and the serial number or IP address of the storage
server is required.
•
Remote desktop — Access the storage server through a client running
Remote Desktop Connection. The serial number or IP address of the
storage server is required.
•
Remote management — Access the storage server using either the
Integrated Lights-Out 2 or Lights-Out 100 remote management
method.
