Confirming the Setup Procedure

The next procedure varies depending on whether setting up the machine for the first time and how
you intend to connect the machine. Confirm the setup procedure, then follow it to setup the machine
and your computer.
Important
Select a connection type based on how you intend to connect to the machine.
For example, if the connection between the computer and access point is wireless and the machine and
access point are connected by LAN cable, the machine connection type becomes wired LAN.
First-time setup
Go to one of the following sections depending on which connection type you intend to use.
To use a wireless LAN connection, see "Setting up for use over wireless LAN" on page 27.
To use a wired LAN connection, see "Setting up for use over wired LAN" on page 33.
To use a USB connection, see "Setting up for use with USB connection" on page 37.
Additional setup
First, confirm which connection type has already been established for the machine.
If the machine has already been connected to a wireless or wired LAN:
Go to one of the following sections depending on with which connection type you intend to set up
additionally.
To add with a wireless or wired LAN connection, see "Setting up an additional LAN-connected
computer" on page 39.
To add with a USB connection, see "Setting up for use with USB connection" on page 37.
If the machine has already been connected via USB only (not yet connected to a
network):
Go to one of the following sections depending on with which connection type you intend to set up
additionally.
To add with a wireless LAN connection, see "Setting up for use over wireless LAN" on
page 27.
To add with a wired LAN connection, see "Setting up for use over wired LAN" on page 33.
Important
If you intend to use both wireless and wired connections:
You need to have a different network segment for each connection. The network address for each
one must be different. We recommend, since advanced network knowledge is required for these
settings, that you use either wireless or wired connection only.
