We are delighted you have become the owner of a LONGINES watch. We recommend you read this instruction manual carefully before using your LONGINES watch for the first time in order to ensure its correct operation and long life.
Precautions concerning waterresistance
A watch's water-resistance can be affected by changes caused by the gaskets drying out, or an accidental impact on the crown. To help maintain your watch's water-resistance, we recommend rinsing it in fresh water after any contact with sea water and having its water-resistance checked once a year by an approved LONGINES Service Centre. In no circumstances should you open your watch yourself.
Never activate the time-setting crown and/or push-pieces when the watch is underwater, and ensure that the crown and push-pieces are pushed in or screwed down before any immersion in water.
Marking on the caseback | Meaning *
None | Not water-resistant
3 bar | ![]() | Water-resistant up to an overpressure of 3 bar (30 m)* |
5 bar | ![]() | Water-resistant up to an overpressure of 5 bar (50 m)* |
10 bar | ![]() | Water-resistant up to an overpressure of 10 bar (100 m)* |
30 bar | ![]() | Water-resistant up to an overpressure of 30 bar (300 m)* |
* The water-resistance values indicated in metres are equivalent to the overpressure applied under standard ISO 22810.

Screw-in crown
Some LONGINES models are equipped with a screw-in crown, which must be unscrewed before setting the time, correcting the date or winding, by turning it anti-clockwise. After making the settings, return the crown to position 1, then push it back in and screw it in firmly in order to ensure the watch's water resistance.
THE WATCH IS DELIVERED IN "ENERGY SAVING" MODE. The watch hands are factory-set to 12 o'clock, and the crown is held in position 2 by a black clip placed around the winding stem. This part must be removed before first using the watch. Check with your retailer that this operation has been performed. If not, follow the procedure below Remove the black clip to release the crown. Push the crown back into position 1; the watch is automatically set to the Swiss time and date. You can then set the local time (refer to the "time-setting" section).
If the crown is pulled out to position 2 for more than 60 seconds, the watch will automatically revert to "energy saving" mode, and the hands will return to 12 o'clock.
DISPLAY MODE INDICATOR: briefly push the crown into position 0; the seconds hand will temporarily move to: (at 10 o'clock) or
(at 2 o'clock). CHANGE DISPLAY MODE: briefly push the crown twice into position 0 to switch between display modes.
After 3 seconds, the seconds hand will return to standard mode.
Home time
Travel time
Follow the procedure below to set the time manually:
Pull the crown out to position 2. Turn the crown quickly either way, to move the hour hand forward or backward in successive one-hour steps, without affecting the minute and seconds displays.
When the hour hand passes midnight, the calendar will automatically display a new date - either the next day or the previous day, depending on the direction of correction. Hence there is a limit of +/- 1 day, so as not to disrupt the perpetual calendar. Push the crown back into position 1.
The watch indicates that the battery is reaching its end of life via one of its hands jumping every 5 seconds. After approximately six months in this mode, the watch will switch to E.O.E. mode: the hands will stop at 12 o'clock. If the watch battery is replaced in E.O.L. mode or within six months of switching to E.O.E. mode, you will not need to adjust the perpetual calendar. If however the battery is replaced after this period, an approved watchmaker will need to program the perpetual calendar.
