Making Global and Other Important Settings — Function
Making Settings for the Pedals and
Keyboard — Controller
I Pedal (page 131)
These settings determine how the connected pedals
(including foot controllers and footswitches) are used.
They can be assigned to a variety of functions, letting
you control operations with your feet — such as
turning the accompaniment style on/off, or triggering
Fill In patterns.
I Keyboard / Panel (page 133)
These settings determine the touch sensitivity of the
keyboard (how touch affects volume), and let you
independently transpose the keyboard, song data,
and the entire instrument.
Setting the Registration Sequence, Freeze,
and Voice Set
I Registration Sequence (page 134)
This determines the order in which the Registration
Memory presets (1 - 8) are called up — by using the
[BACK][NEXT] buttons or the pedal.
I Freeze (page 134)
This lets you specify the settings you want to be
maintained or left unchanged, even when changing
Registration Memory presets.
I Voice Set (page 135)
This lets you determine whether certain voice-related
settings (such as Effects, EQ, Harmony, etc.) are
automatically called up or not when you select a
voice.
Setting Harmony and Echo (page 135)
These let you set the type of Harmony or Echo effect
applied to the keyboard-played voices, as well as the
amount of effect.
Showing the Clavinova Display on a TV —
Video Out (CVP-205 only) (page 136)
These settings determine the display characteristics when
outputting the CVP-205's display contents to a TV
monitor (connected to the VIDEO OUT terminal). You
can set the size and color of the displayed characters, as
well as the color of the display background.

CVP-205/203
Making MIDI Settings
I System (page 137)
These determine various system messages settings
(such as Clock, Start/Stop, System Exclusive), as well
as Local Control on/off.
I Transmit (page 138)
This determines how playback data is sent to
connected MIDI devices — i.e., which parts are
assigned to which MIDI Transmit channels. This also
lets you specify the type of data to be transmitted over
each channel.
I Receive (page 139)
This determines how the parts of the CVP-205/203
respond to data from connected MIDI devices — i.e.,
which parts are assigned to which MIDI Receive
channels. This also lets you specify the type of data to
be received over each channel.
I Root (page 139)
This determines the channel(s) recognized for the root
notes, for use with the auto accompaniment.
I Chord Detect (page 139)
This determines the channel(s) recognized for the
chords, for use with the auto accompaniment.
Other Settings — Utility
I Config 1 (page 140)
This page contains settings for Fade In/Out,
Metronome, Parameter Lock, and the Tap sound.
I Config 2 (page 141)
From this page, you can adjust the display, make
speaker settings, and change the voice number
indication.
I Disk (page 142)
From this page, you can format disks, and copy from
disk to disk.
I Owner (page 143)
From this page, you can set the language of the
instrument, and input your own name — which is
shown automatically every time the power is turned
on.
I System Reset (page 143)
This function restores the CVP-205/203 to its original
factory settings. You can also specify which types of
settings are to be restored, as well as store your own
original settings for future recall.
