Notes on AK10 vs . GAH

When converting an AK10 display panel to a GAH display panel,
it is important to note other differences between the display
Quantity
panels:
1

3 .1 Output terminal order

1
The 4-20mA and relay wiring on terminal rails TB3 and TB4 on
the GAH display panel are different to the AK10 display panels.
1
Therefore, after completion of this document, it is important
that the output wiring is reviewed and is completed in
1
accordance to the GAH operating instructions: OI/GAH. See
below example on how AK102 or AK103 output wiring differs
1
from GAH.

3 .2 Relay output Normally Open vs . Normally
1
Closed
On both AK10 and GAH, the user may choose whether the
alarms relays are Normally Open (NO) or Normally Closed (NC).
On AK10, this choice is made using different terminals on the
terminal rails TB3 and TB4. On GAH, this choice is made via the
GAH CM30 menu.

3 .3 Other considerations

AK10 systems (and its predecessors) often last for very long
periods, sometimes measured in decades. It is not uncommon
to find AK10 (or older) systems in use that are a conglomeration
of different parts from different generations of different
systems.
This document will provide instructions only on how to upgrade
standard AK10 display panels to standard GAH display panels.
Therefore, if the AK10 display panel has been altered in any way,
or if it is an incredibly old or special build, it may not be possible
to follow these instructions to the exact letter. Particularly
those sections related to disassembly of the AK10 panel. If you
have this issue, please reach out to ABB for assistance.
