Installing an Expansion Card

CAUTION:
Only trained service technicians are authorized to remove the system cover and access any of the
components inside the system. See your Product Information Guide for complete information about safety
precautions, working inside the computer, and protecting against electrostatic discharge.
1 Turn off the system and attached peripherals, and disconnect the system from the electrical outlet.
2 Open the system. See "Opening the System" on page 48.
3 If you are installing a full-length expansion card, remove the expansion-card stabilizer:
Swing up the end of the stabilizer toward the front of the system. See Figure 3-9.

Draw the stabilizer straight up and out of the system.

4 Open the plastic expansion-card retainer adjacent to the back of the empty slot. See Figure 3-9.
