Charging Battery Pack

Plug the Charger 2 into the primary power
source. When there is no battery pack inserted,
the bottom LED on the Charging Indicator 5 is
continuously lit green. This indicates the char-
ger is receiving power and the charger is ready
for operation.
When the Battery Pack 1 is inserted into the
Charger 2, the Charging Indicator 5 will begin
to "BLINK" and the Active Air Cooling will be
activated. The charging process will begin im-
mediately. Due to the intelligent charging pro-
cess, the battery will be charged with optimal
charging current, depending on battery temper-
ature, voltage and battery type. For reference,
see chart on page 6 for approximate charging
times when utilizing Standard Charging Mode
and Power Boost Charging Mode.
Mode Button
The Charger 2 can be set to three different
charging modes. Press the Mode Button 4 to
cycle through the charging modes until the de-
sired mode is active. See the following chart
and sections for details on each specific mode
setting.
Note: the Mode Button 4 can be pressed either
before or after the Battery Pack 1 has been in-
serted into the Charger 2.

Standard Charging Mode
The battery is charged up to around 100% bat-
tery capacity. The Standard Charging Mode
provides the best combination of fast charging
time and full battery charge while optimizing
the service life of the battery.
The factory default charging mode is Standard
Charging Mode. When the Battery Pack 1 is in-
serted into the Charger 2, the Mode Button 4
will not be illuminated. Once Standard charg-
ing has finished, the Mode Button 4 will remain
unilluminated, the Charging Indicator 5 LEDs

Power Boost Charging Mode
The Power Boost Charging Mode function
charges batteries up to around 50% battery ca-
pacity in rapid charging mode. This means bat-
teries are ready for use sooner than if charged
using the Standard Charging Mode.
Rapid charging speeds vary for different bat-
tery types. Certain batteries are not capable
of charging faster than the Standard Charging
Mode. Compatible batteries can now receive
a full maximum charge with the Power Boost
Charging Mode active. See charging times and
compatibilities in the chart on page 6.
To activate the Power Boost Charging Mode,
press the Mode Button 4 until it illuminates
red. Once the Power Boost Charging Mode is
completed, the Mode Button 4 will remain il-
luminated red, all Charging Indicator 5 LEDs
will be continuously lit green, and the Active
Air Cooling will be stopped.
Long Life Charging Mode
The battery is charged up to around 80% bat-
tery capacity. This mode charges the battery
more slowly and thereby significantly prolong-
ing its service life.
To activate the Long Life Charging Mode, press
the Mode Button 4 until it illuminates green.
Once Long Life charging has finished, the Mode
Button 4 will remain illuminated green, the
Charging Indicator 5 LEDs will be continuous-
ly lit green and the Active Air Cooling will be
stopped.
Battery Cooling ("Active Air Cooling")
The fan control unit integrated into the char-
ger monitors the temperature of the inserted
battery. As soon as the battery temperature is
above approx. 32 °F (0 °C), the battery will be
cooled by a fan.
