process that best suits your needs.
To format high density 1.44-MB diskettes - In DOS, type format a: and press Enter. If
you want a bootable diskette, type format a:/s and press Enter.
3.5-inch high density (HD) diskettes. These diskettes are also called double-sided,
high-density (DSHD) diskettes. You can store 1.44 MB of information on these
diskettes.
Your diskette drive can also use 3.5-inch double-sided, double-density (DSDD)
diskettes. These diskettes only hold 720 kilobytes of data - about half the amount of
data that 1.44-MB diskettes hold.
Some systems ship with the SuperDisk™ drive that uses 120-MB diskettes. You can
store up to 120-MB of information on these diskettes. The SuperDisk drive is backward
compatible and uses 720-KB and 1.44-MB diskettes.
