digital sound
A description of a sound wave that consists of binary numbers.
digitizing
The process of converting an analog signal into a digital representation.
diskette
A thin flexible platter coated with a magnetic material for storing
information.
diskette drive
A magnetic drive that writes on and retrieves data from a diskette.
DSTN
Dualscan Super-Twisted Nematic. A type of technology used in some NEC
Versa LCD screen displays.
DVD
A denser, faster CD that can hold video as well as audio and computer data.
Short for digital versatile disk or digital video disk, this new type of
CD-ROM holds a minimum of 4.7-GB (gigabytes), enough for a full-length
movie.

enhanced VGA
A video interface that offers more colors or higher resolution than VGA.
extended RAM
The area of RAM above the first megabyte of memory in the system
available for enhancing system performance.

Fast Infrared, an infrared technology that sends data at 4.0 Mbit/second
(4 million bits per second).
