This part of the handle stays cool to the touch while cooking. Allow the appliance to cool down completely before handling or moving.
To remove the grill plates, press the plate release buttons, and take out the plates.
NOTE: Due to the initial heating of the materials used in the manufacturing of the product, some light smoke/vapors may be released when used initially. This is normal.
Do not use this product to cook or defrost frozen food. All food must be completely defrosted before cooking it with this product.
(Read the instructions before use)
Do not touch hot surfaces. Always use the handle of the product.
When ready to use, lightly-coat the surface of the grill plates with cooking oil or butter and wipe with a paper towel. Repeat as necessary for a longer lasting non-stick surface.
Turn the unit on by plugging it into a standard electrical outlet. Verify that the power indicator light illuminates in orange.
The cooking plates and metal surfaces of the unit will become extremely hot when in use. To avoid a burn hazard, wear heat resistant mitts or gloves and touch only the black portion of the handle.
After the unit preheats for approximately five minutes, the ready indicator light will illuminate in green, indicating the product is ready for use.
Use the handle to lift the upper plate of the grill. Place food on the lower plate using wooden or plastic heat-resistant utensils.
Do not use metal utensils on this product, as they will scratch and damage the Plates' non-stick coating.
Use the Handle to lower and rest the upper plate on top of the food.
NOTES:
When the food is cooked as desired, lift the handle to open the plates, then remove the food using the utensils. If more cooking will be done at this time, close the plates to conserve heat.
Repeat Steps 3-5 until cooking is complete, reapplying cooking oil as necessary.
Turn temperature control to OFF and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet.
Pull directly on the plug - do not pull on the power cord.
When the unit has completely cooled, clean and dry the grill prior to storage.
(to cook burgers, steak, poultry, bacon, vegetables, etc.):
NOTE: The grill should be unplugged during this setup.
To use as an open grill, raise the upper plate by lifting the handle with your left hand while sliding the locking latch towards the handle with your right hand. Push the handle back until the handle rests flat directly on the counter or table. The upper plate should now be completely leveled with the lower plate - creating one large cooking surface.
Place the grease collecting drip trays near each spout on the right side of the appliance. Plug in the grill and set to the desired cooking temperature. Apply oil or butter to the cooking surface and begin grilling.
Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance and the plates to cool down.
Wipe the outside with only a slightly moistened cloth ensuring that no moisture, oil or grease enters the cooling slots.
To clean the plates, you can leave them in the appliance or remove them (by pressing on plate release buttons ( see picture).
If you leave them in the appliance, wipe the plates with a damp cloth or towel. If you remove them from the appliance, you can wash them under running water or in a dishwasher. Dry them afterwards.
Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool as this will damage the finish.
