New Hardware

If you add new hardware such as a printer or a gamepad to your computer, you may
be prompted to insert the Windows Installation CD or diskettes. If this prompt occurs,
complete the following steps:

Understanding Your Service and Support Options
From the Windows desktop, double-click the Compaq Support
Double-click the QuickRestore
menu is displayed.
Click the Recovery button. You are prompted to insert a diskette into the
diskette drive.
Insert a 3.5-inch, high-density formatted diskette into the diskette drive and click
OK. QuickRestore will begin creating the emergency diskette for you.
When QuickRestore has finished creating the emergency diskette, store the
QuickRestore emergency diskette in a safe place for emergency use.
Place your Emergency Recovery CD in the CD Drive.
Turn off your PC using the power button.
Turn your PC on using the Power button.
Follow the instructions on your screen.
Eject your Emergency Recovery CD.
Restart your system.
At the Add New Hardware Wizard, click Next to begin installing the drivers and
files necessary to make the new hardware work.
Select the Search for the best driver for your device (Recommended) option
and click Next.
