NOTICE:
To prevent static damage to components inside your computer, discharge static electricity from your
body before you touch any of your computer's electronic components. You can do so by touching an unpainted
metal surface on the computer chassis.

Removing the Processor

1 Follow the procedures in "Before You Begin" on page 21.
2 Remove the computer cover (see "Removing the Computer Cover" on page 90).
3 Remove the heat sink assembly (see "Removing the Heat Sink Assembly" on page 94).
NOTICE:
Unless a new heat sink is required for the new processor, reuse the original heat sink assembly when
you replace the processor.
4 Open the processor cover by sliding the release lever from under the center cover latch on the socket.
Then pull the lever back to release the processor.
