Who should read this document? If you are using one of the telephones and one of the softswitches described in this document, this document is for you. You do not have to read the entire document. Your administrator should be able to tell you which type of system you are using (Asterisk, BroadSoft or Sylantro etc.), so you will only need to read the relevant section.
Each softswitch vendor implements star code commands, but the codes are not standardized. All of the main call handling and extension management features for your system can be set up as speed dials on softkeys on your phone. Contact your system administrator for more information. If these have not been set up, you can dial any allowed star code commands on your phone the same way you would on a non-digital telephone.
Using the Menus Select [Back] to return to the previous menu level. The menu mode has an idle time-out function. If there has been no user activity for 60 seconds, the phone will automatically exit the menu mode. There are several buttons on your phone that can be used to access the menus.
If you are not in the menu system, pressing this key enters it. Menu Back/Release This key allows you to exit from the current menu to a higher level menu, or to exit the menu system if you are at the highest level already.
Edit - Add - Enters the directory name/number entry mode, described below. (If there is no room in the local directory then this option name will change to Add: No room and the option will do nothing if selected). Settings Menu Key ID - Enters key identification mode, displaying key assignments.
HONE UIDE It is possible to initiate a call by selecting an entry. To jump to a specific location in the directory, press the appropriate digit key. For example, pressing 5 jumps to the first entry starting with the letter ‘j’.
<space> Table 1: Letter to Key Mappings For the [A-Z] and [a-z] entry modes, a single press of a key that has multiple letters mapped will present the first character in the map and change the cursor from ‘_’ to ‘<’. Subsequent presses of the same number key will select the next available letter.
UIDE Idle Phone Display The information that your phone displays while in idle mode is set by your system administrator. By default, it displays the date and time on one line and your phone number or extension on the second line. For information on setting and changing your idle display, contact your system administrator or refer to the Installation and Configuration Guide.

Your phone model may have a suffix (e.g., H, S, D). Suffixes do not alter the button mappings. DADM is a 20-button DSS add-on and there can be one or two of these attached to a 2010 or 2020 phone.

General Hook-Flash Rules When connected on a call: Two Hook-Flashes will take you to another call (or back to the same call, if there is no other call). One Hook-Flash will initiate a transfer. During a transfer (after dialling the first digit): One Hook-Flash will cancel the transfer and reconnect you to the party you were transferring.
If a Hook-Flash is performed at the dial tone (before dialling the first digit) then the transfer will be aborted, but any waiting call or call on hold will be selected in preference to returning to the original call. If there is no waiting or held call then the transferee and the transferor will be reconnected.
Hook-Flash at any point after starting to dial the third party until the third party answers. If a Hook-Flash is performed at the dial tone (before dialling the first digit) then the conference will be aborted, but any waiting call or call on hold will be selected in preference to returning to the original call.
You may toggle back and forth as many times as desired by performing 2 Hook-Flashes If you hang up on one caller while the other caller is on hold, your phone will ring. When you pick up your handset you will be reconnected with the caller who was on hold.
Lift your handset. You will hear a dial tone. Enter the Broadsoft feature code (e.g., *61). You will hear confirmation DTMF tone for button presses. Once you have entered a complete and valid feature code, the feature will be activated/deactivated. Document Number: G-SIP3DP-RUC...

The headset microphone cannot be muted: the mute button affects the handset even when the headset is being used. If the handset is lifted during a headset call then the local mute is activated (indicator flashes), allowing the handset user to listen in on the call. If the mute button is pressed, the handset user can then join in the conversation.
