    2. D3M Functionality 2.1 Powering On To turn the D3M on, the central button should be pressed and held down for five seconds. D3M Status Screen The following table shows the meaning of the symbols that can appear on the status screen on the D3M.

    2.3 Screens The D3M displays the dose rate and accumulated dose on two separate screens, as shown below. Pressing the central button will toggle between the two screens instantly. 2.4 Pinning the Screen If the user wishes to view one screen continuously, then it is possible to pin the screen to avoid toggling between screens.

    Kromek’s Ciris software. Please not, these values are set at the discretion of the Ciris user. When this upper limit is exceeded, the D3M will alert the user. The user is also able to edit the displayed text. Please refer to the separate CIRIS manual for instruction on how to change alarm thresholds and customise this using CIRIS.

    5. Data Storage 5.1 SD Card The D3M is fitted with an SD card for storage of spectra. To save data to the SD card, the central button should be pressed and held for three seconds. The screen will begin to fill with white bars when the button is pressed and should be released when the third bar fills the screen.

    6. Connecting to a Smartphone The D3M can be used in isolation as a PRD or can be used with a smartphone as a part of the SIGMA network, using the SIGMA LE app. The detector is connected to a smartphone using either Bluetooth connection or via USB cable.

    The SIGMA LE app can be used when the D3M device is connected to a smartphone for isotope ID. Using this app also turns the D3M into a part of the larger SIGMA system, thereby ensuring that the device contributes to a networked system of detectors used for radiation monitoring of a given area.
