10. Tap lightly on tensioner body with a soft face hammer
to loosen and remove tensioner if required.

CAM CHAIN TENSIONER INSPECTION

1. Pull cam chain tensioner plunger (A) out to the end of
its travel and inspect ratchet teeth on plunger and
pawl. Inspect spring (B) for wear or damage.

2. Hold the ratchet open and slide the plunger in and out
of the tensioner body. The plunger should move
smoothly throughout the travel range.
3. Replace entire tensioner assembly if any part is worn
or damaged.
