Section 3 - Configuration
The DNS-323 supports four different disk configuration types: Standard, where each drive is a unique volume, JBOD,
which combines both drives in a linear fashion to create one volume, as well as RAID 0 and RAID 1.
RAID Settings
Click Set RAID Type and Re-Format to
change the current drive configuration.
If you already have one drive installed, and
intend to install the second drive, the DNS-323
allows you to change the drive configuration
from Standard to RAID 1, which you can mirror
the data from the 1st drive to the 2nd drive to
protect your valuable data. This will erase all
the data in the new 2nd drive.
If you have installed a 2nd drive and "skipped"
the configuation, you will see there is an
additional option allowing you to configure
the 2nd Hard Drive. This will erase all the data
stored on the 2nd Hard Drive.
A pop-up window will appear with the drive configuration options.
Choose the RAID option you want to implement, by clicking the
appropriate radio button and press Next button.
The steps for configuring RAID are identical to the steps carried out
earlier from the Getting Started section of the manual.
