Ensure the round rubber seal is on the flange of the fitting and insert them from inside the unit, thru the hole in bottom of the HRV/ERV, and hand tighten the plastic nut. Once the fitting is secured to the HRV/ERV, tighten the nut another half turn using a wrench to assure a better seal as shown in steps 1-3 below.
