    2. Designed purpose of use The AVANT Pallet fork with hydraulic side shift is an attachment that is suitable for use with AVANT compact loaders that are shown in Table 1. The pallet fork is an excellent tool for handling standard sized pallets. The pallet fork is an useful attachment all year round for example on construction sites, farms, and especially at outdoor material handling jobs, where conventional fork-lift trucks may be impracticable.

    See also the information in this manual. Be especially careful when the load sensor indicator is activated, if your loader is fitted with a load sensor system. Contact your Avant dealer if you are unsure about limits of your loader.

Tilting a pallet towards the loader can cause loads to fall towards you on the driver's seat. Make sure the load is secured on the pallet. Never lift high stacks of loose materials.

    Do not stay in the area between the attachment and the loader. Mount the attachment only on level surface. WARNING Never move or lift an attachment that has not been locked. Avant quick coupling system: Step 1:  Lift the locking pins of the quick coupling plate of the loader up, and turn them backwards into the slot, so that they are locked in the upper position.

    5.1 Connecting and disconnecting hydraulic hoses On Avant loaders the hydraulic hoses are connected using the multi connector system. If you have an older model Avant 300-700 series loader with the conventional quick couplers, and you want to change to the multi connector system, contact your Avant dealer or service point for instructions or installation services.
  • Page 16 16 (48) Keep all fittings as clean as possible; use the protective caps on both the attachment and the loader. Dirt, ice, etc. may make using the fittings significantly more difficult. Never leave the hoses hanging on the ground; place the couplings onto the holder on the attachment.

    17 (48) 5.2 Electric connection Electric functions of the attachment: The attachment is equipped with an electric selector valve for selection between the fork functions. The valve makes it possible to move the forks further apart or closer to each other, or to shift the load sideways to the left or to the right.
  • Page 18 18 (48) If your loader is  equipped with the Opticontrol ®,  the Attachment control switch pack, and the loader is manufactured after 2016: electric socket integrated multiconnector, electric harness attachment is connected when the multiconnector is coupled. Clean both multiconnectors before connecting the multiconnector.

    19 (48) 6. Working with pallet forks Check the attachment and the operating environment once more before starting to work, and that all obstacles have been removed from the operating area. Quick inspection of the equipment and the operating area before use are parts of ensuring safety and the best performance of the equipment.

    20 (48) Risk of falling from height and crushing under an attachment or loader - Never use the attachment as a lifting platform or to carry people. Never use the loader or WARNING its attachments to lift persons or as any kind of work platform even temporarily.

    21 (48) 6.3 Using the pallet forks Learn how to handle articulated loaders in tight spaces. The handling characteristics of an articulated loader are different than of other types of loaders, or standard fork-lift trucks. Special training and practice may be necessary.

    25 (48) 6.3.2 Transporting loads Whenever using the Pallet forks, make sure that the load is well balanced and evenly on both fork arms. All loads must be transported as low and as close to the loader as possible, as shown in the adjacent figure.

    43 (48) 6.6 Storing the attachment Uncouple and store the attachment on level ground. The best way to store the attachment is a place where it is protected from direct sunlight, rain, and extreme temperatures.  Avoid leaving the attachment laying directly on the ground.

    Finding any fault means that the hydraulic hose or component must be replaced and the equipment must not be used until it is repaired.     45 (48) 7.2 Cleaning the attachment Clean the attachment regularly to prevent accumulation of dirt which is more difficult to remove. A pressure washer and mild detergent can be used for cleaning. Do not use strong solvents, and do not spray directly at the hydraulic components, or at the labels on the attachment.
