USING YOUR COFFEEMAKER

To use your Soho Coffeemaker, begin by assembling the unit.
USING YOUR COFFEEMAKER

The coffeemaker will remain "ON" until turned "OFF". Be sure to turn power off after each use and when carafe is empty.

  1. Place the appliance on a clean, flat surface and plug into outlet. You can adjust the length of the power cord so that it is the exact length you desire.
    1. To increase the length of the power cord: Grasp the power cord (not the power plug) and gently lift it out of the slot, then pull the cord away from the coffeemaker.
    2. To decrease the length of the power cord: Grasp the power cord, lift out of the slot, then feed cord into the coffeemaker opening. Place cord in the slot when finished.
  2. Prior to first use, clean coffeemaker per instructions on page #6.
  3. Remove carafe from unit and fill with desired amount of cold water. Use the easy measuring marks on carafe to ensure correct amount of water. Open top lid and pour water into the water reservoir.

Note: The amount of brewed coffee will always be less than the amount of water placed into water reservoir; coffee grounds and the filter will absorb approximately 10% of the water.

  1. With the lid still open, turn shower head to the back and remove the filter basket. Place filter in the filter basket. (Use quality disposable 8-12 cup filters or use reusable nylon filter provided.) Measure one tablespoon (level) of drip or regular grind coffee for each cup of coffee desired and place in filter. Be careful not to get any grounds on the filter basket.
  2. Return filter basket to the unit. Make sure filter basket tab fits into slot on filter basket holder. Move the shower head toward front over the filter basket until shower head clicks into place. Close top lid of coffeemaker. Do not open lid during brewing cycle; leaving lid down preserves the coffee's flavor and heat and prevents steam burns.
  3. Replace glass carafe on warming plate.
  4. Press the switch to "ON". A BLUE light will illuminate during operation.
  5. Upon completion of brew cycle, wait 1 minute before removing carafe from the unit to allow any remaining liquid to seep through.
  6. Remove carafe and pour desired amount into cup(s). To keep coffee warm, place the carafe back on the warming plate of coffeemaker.

With the carafe off the unit, the warming plate is exposed and HOT. Do not touch.

  1. Wait 10 minutes before brewing a second pot of coffee. Turn unit off by pressing switch to "OFF"; the BLUE light will turn off.
  2. This unit does not turn off automatically. Switch power to "OFF" when carafe is empty or when the unit is not in use. Unplug from wall outlet.

Tips for general operation

  • To use Pause & Serve feature, remove carafe during brewing cycle and pour a cup of coffee. Replace carafe on warming plate within 30 seconds to avoid overflow or possible injury.
  • For best results, always clean unit after every use and use fresh, cold water when brewing.
  • Finer grinds will produce a fuller extraction and provide a richer, full-bodied coffee. Regular grinds will need more coffee per cup to produce the same coffee strength of a finer grind.
  • For stronger coffee, use more grounds; for weaker coffee, use less grounds.
  • Grinding whole beans immediately before use will produce optimum coffee flavor.
  • Store coffee in a cool, dry place to maintain freshness. Do not reuse coffee grounds. This will impair the flavor of your coffee.

CLEANING YOUR COFFEEMAKER

Care and Cleaning

Initial Use: Before using your new Soho® Coffeemaker for the first time, be sure to thoroughly wash the glass carafe and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry. Thoroughly rinse reusable filter in WARM WATER ONLY as soap residue can leave a taste in your coffee. Wipe the exterior of unit with a damp cloth to remove any dust or packing residue. Run one cycle through with just water. Follow directions on page #4, leaving out coffee and using only water.

After Each Use

  1. Before cleaning, make sure unit is turned off and is unplugged from the wall outlet.
  2. Remove filter basket and dispose of coffee grounds and disposable filter, if used.
  3. To clean carafe and filter basket, wash in warm, soapy water, rinse and dry. DO NOT WASH PARTS IN DISHWASHER. When cleaning the carafe, do not use abrasive materials as they may damage the carafe.
  4. Thoroughly rinse reusable filter in warm water only.
  5. When all parts are clean, return carafe and filter basket with reusable filter to the appliance.
  6. To clean exterior of unit, wipe with a damp cloth.

DO NOT SUBMERGE APPLIANCE IN WATER.

Extensive Cleaning

Extensive cleaning of your unit is recommended once a month. Mineral deposits can build up over time in the water reservoir causing lengthy brew times and a decrease in the flavor of your coffee.

  1. To clean, open top coffeemaker lid and pour 1 pint white vinegar into the water reservoir.
  2. Place filter in filter basket – do not add coffee. Move shower head toward front over the filter basket until shower head clicks into place and close lid. Push the switch to "ON". The BLUE light will illuminate.
  3. Run white vinegar through one brewing cycle. Once brewing cycle is finished, discard contents in carafe.
  4. Remove carafe from the appliance and fill with 12 cups of cold water. Pour water into the water reservoir and repeat the brewing cycle using a fresh disposable filter or clean reusable filter. Do NOT add coffee; use only clear water. Once brewing cycle is finished, switch unit to "OFF", unplug from the wall and discard contents in carafe.
  5. Wash carafe and filter basket in warm, soapy water, rinse and dry. Rinse reusable filter in warm water only. Replace in unit.
  6. When the unit has cooled, clean the exterior with a damp cloth. Your unit is now clean and ready to brew.
