    Introduction The purpose of this document is to provide an experienced Systems Administrator with information for setting up the DocuPrint N4525 printer on the various networks indicated. Requirements In general, the requirements needed for printer connection and setup include: A workstation with the appropriate operating system software installed for that station.

    How to use this document This document has been arranged to get the printer set up on your network quickly and with minimum reading. Review the Table of Contents. Find the Network Operating Systems (NOS), which pertains to your network.

    Printer Drivers, and then select Install N4525 Printer Drivers. Note The Xerox TCP/IP Port Monitor has not been installed yet. It is necessary to temporarily install the printer drivers to an alternate port. A local port, such as LPT1, is recommended.
  • Page 10 Select the Details tab, and click the Add Port button. In the Add Port dialog box, select Other. From the list of available printer port monitors, select the Xerox TCP/IP Port, and then click the OK button. At this point, you enter the Xerox TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard.

    Windows NT 4.x Network Introduction Your printer can be installed on a Windows NT network using one of four methods: Microsoft TCP/IP protocol Xerox TCP/IP Port Monitor DLC/LLC protocol AppleTalk protocol The Preliminary Steps given below must be accomplished for all printers regardless of the method that is being used.
  • Page 13 Click New Port. This opens up the Add LPR compatible printer window. Type the IP address of your printer and a printer name of up to 31 characters (no spaces). Select OK. The Wizard returns you to the previous dialog. Verify that the new IP address you entered is in the list and is correct.

    Re-configuring an existing port Within the Printer Properties dialog box, click the Ports tab. Select the TCP/IP port you want to re-configure from the list shown, then click the Configure Port button. A dialog box appears listing the current port configuration and allowing you to make changes.
