The Telnet Console Main Menu
Checking Printer Status
Example
Telnet offers a very quick way to determine printer status remotely via
TCP/IP. Once connected to the printer maintenance port (2002), real-
time status can be viewed remotely in the Telnet console screen. If
the printer is idle, you can poll the printer by typing "s" at the Telnet
console.
In the following example, the printer is printing a job from host
13.231.30.3 :
1. At the Command prompt, TYPE: telnet XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
2002 [ENTER]
2. The system will attempt to connect to the host. You will see:
Trying
XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Connected to XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX
Escape character is '^]'
Telnet Console on
Type "S" to see current status
Type "!" to enter monitor
3. TYPE: s [ENTER]
