Chapter 2: Installation
Configuring the Wireless Card on Your
Computer
The following instructions are for the Windows XP operating
system. For installation instructions regarding other operating
systems, go to:
http://www.watchguard.com/support/sohoresources/

Select Start => Control Panel = > Network Connections.
The Network Connections dialog box appears.

Double-click Wireless Network Connection.
The Wireless Network Connection dialog box appears.

Click Advanced.
The Wireless Network Connection Properties dialog box appears with the
Wireless Networks tab selected.

In the Preferred networks section, click Add.
The Wireless Network Properties dialog box appears.
Type the SSID in the Network Name (SSID) text box. This is

the same number that you recorded from the Wireless Network
Configuration page.
Click OK to close the Wireless Network Properties dialog box.

Click Refresh.
All available wireless connections are shown in the Available Networks
text box. Select the SSID of the computer that you want to configure.

Click OK to enable the wireless connection.
The wireless network connection should now show that your wireless
network is active.

Configure the wireless computer to use DHCP. For additional
information about how to configure DHCP, see "Enabling your
computer for DHCP" on page 21.
The Windows operating system will search for the wireless connection. If
more than one wireless network is found, a dialog box will appear with a
list of all wireless devices in the area. Select the computer that you want
to configure to access the SOHO 6 Wireless device.
