2. General description

2.1. Principle of operation

Figure 16
shows the principle of operation of a slab laser. A gas discharge (8) forms the active laser
medium and is established between the wave guide electrodes (9) by a radio frequency voltage (5, 10).
The rear mirror (7) and output mirror (3) form the optical resonator. The laser beam (1) is produced
within the resonator and is emitted through an output window (2). Liquid coolant flowing between the
input (6) and output (4) is used to cool the electrodes.
2.2. Laser head — Standard version
The OEM 45iX laser is a high-frequency excited, diffusion-cooled CO
use as a cutting, welding or marking tool. It comprises a laser resonator assembly with integrated RF
power supply and a hand-held Mobile Control Unit (MCU).
It is available with or without covers.
