Reading Urine Test Strips

T he Urisys 1100 Urine Analyzer is ready
®
to read a test strip when the message
"Insert Strip" is displayed.
Dip a Chemstrip 10 MD* Urine Test
®
Strip briefly (one second) in the urine
sample. Draw the long edge of the test
strip along the rim of the specimen
container to remove excess urine.
D o not bend
test strip!

P ress the START button.** The display
will read "Measurement starts in xx sec."
The display counts down until start.
During this time, the strip incubates and
the retaining bar remains open.
* Hospitals may use Chemstrip ® 10 UA test strips.
** Operator ID has to be entered, if this function is activated.

D ab the long edge of the strip lightly on
absorbent paper to remove excess urine.
Make sure that each pad is blotted.

A fter this time period, the measurement
begins with the Reference pad and
then the test strip. The tray returns to
the Start position and the retaining bar
opens.

I mmediately place the test strip, with the
pads facing upward, on the test strip
tray. The end of the test strip must be
pushed below the clip as far as it will go.
About 2 mm of strip must be held under
the clip.
It is important that the test strip is
correctly positioned and ready to be
read within 5–10 seconds after the
strip is dipped.

R emove and discard the used test strip
when measurement is complete. Wipe
off any urine residue with a lint-free
cloth.
